I have 65 F-100 Ranger totally stock 352 original carb and air cleaner. I just rebuilt the carb, adjusted to factory shop manual specs for the accel. pump, truck starts cold and hot just fine, however, falls flat on its face whenever starting out, taking off from a light, ect. or when you stab the throttle until its fully warmed up, and this takes a little while. When fully warmed up, truck runs perfectly, start, stop, punch the gas. I think the flat spot is in the accel. pump action. Truck idles good at all times. I'm ready to scrap this setup for an aluminum intake and edlebrock carb. Truck is miserable to drive until fully warmed up, then it runs great. Any ideas???
I would say that yer choke is coming off to soon if it is working at all. Accelerator pump would stumble warm as well as cold if it was faulty. 2 cents of mine and change.

Stumbling, bogging down, hesitating when taking off from a dead stop, or accelerating at speed usually is caused by a bad accelerator pump diaphram and/or check valve.
While the accelerator pump and check might be new, if these parts sat around for several years, they could be dried out and cracked.
Ozone in the air is the mortal enemy of these parts.
When you replaced the pump diaphram, did you remember to install the pump correctly so the round piece of metal that the coil spring rests against...is facing in the right direction?
Carb kit was purchased form Dennis Carpenter last fall, a Wells kit. I believe everything was installed properly. Like I said, the truck runs fine onced warmed up, maybe 10 or 15 minutes of driving, this seems to be a cold issue. Maybe it just needs more choke until its warmed up.

If you have a manual choke than I would say you are shutting it off to soon as a manual choke needs to be feathered in slowly until the engine is warmed up fully. If ya want to jump in and just take of as ya would on a late model truck than I would suggest an electric choke convention kit that ya can get at any parts store.

FYI: The correct Motorcraft carb kit is still available from Ford.
