I have seen many trucks with a steering stabilizer on them but I bought my 2003 F 350 crew cab used and it doesn't have one on it.
Question is...do I need one???
Steering seems okay, a bit hard to steer but I thought that was just the nature of the beast. Doesn't seem to jump around too much if I hit a pot hole or bump. Would a stabilzer help the steering effort? I do have larger wheels and tires that came on the truck...they are 18 inch rims.
You should have one especially with the oversized tires/wheels. Even though you accept the steering as it is and don't notice a problem you will notice the difference once installed. The stabilizer also helps "minimize" steering gear (tie-rods/ball joints etc..) wear as well as your tires. Install a quality single or dual stabilizer don't install the OEM junk ford offers. If your steering is difficult it could be the size of your tires or you could have other issues. Increased tire size will decrease steering effort but shouldn't be excessive. The stabilizer may add slight additional effort but will minimize as it wears a bit.
