timing pointer - 2:00 vs 10:00

The 302 currently in my truck has a 10:00 pointer that is held with two timing cover bolts.

The engine I plan to install has the 2:00 pointer that is held on with the small machine screw and one timing cover bolt. I need to use a water pump with a drivers side inlet.

I plan to throw the new water pump on with a peice of hose as a test but if I can't see the pointer well can I just swap the damper and pointer over from the "10:00" engine??

The build code on both engines is '68.

One more question..

Both my engines have '68 build date one is Ford (fairlane torino) one is Mercury (build codes).

The Ford has a 3 bolt pulley/ damper. ( has 2:00 pointer)

The Mercury has a 4 bolt pulley/damper. (has 10:00 pointer)

Can I swap the damper and pointer from the "merc" to the "ford"???

I thought all the older 302s had a 3 bolt. What gives????

Help... Please and thanks..
