PLEASE Help, dropped shift rail plug in M5OD

While replacing the shift rail plugs on my m5od, one of them ended up inside the tranny. I pulled the top cover and the shifter, but i cannot locate the rubber plug. I beleive it is on the bottom and I have tried filling the tranny and draining it, blowing compressed air into it, and I have attempted to get it from the drain plug. My questions is... What will happen if I leave it in there and try to forget about it?

In case no one else has told you by now, you do not want to do that.
