Hello,
I rebuilt a 360 because of two dead cylinders and a tick in the engine. Well i have all eight cylinders working but i still have a tick. I have replaced all the lifters and all they push rods. My next guess would be the rockers what is your advice. If that is it does anyone have any Rockers that i could buy off them. Thanks so much i love this sight.
I just finished a camshaft change in my truck and I noticed that a couple of the rocker arm seats had more wear than the rest of them. I saw a set of Wolverine rocker arms on Ebay for about $40. I don't know what happened to Wolverine, but they used to make good quality parts. They are still on Ebay, if you want to check it out. I sucked it up and ordered some from one of the FTE Forum supporting Ford dealers, but they were about $200, plus shipping.
I am not sure if the rocker arms are your problem or not. I have not received mine from Ford yet, so I don't know what the result will be. I currently have ticks after the engine warms up; none when the engine is cold.
I had to buy a new set for my 460. The cost was $80 but they where not cause my tick/clacking. Mine where worn into the fulcrum. Have you tried running the motor with the vavle covers off? That is what I did to isolate the problem.

Thanks for the Replys i will Try taking off the valve covers and see what i can hear a litte better i sure hope no Oil spurts in my EYE lol j/k
Thanks i will keep you updated.
Well without having adjustable rockers ..your at the mercy of all the valve stem heights being the same and also the rocker tips being in servicable condition... "IF" the rocker tips are worn passed limits...your going to clatter...and if you have a velve tip thats not up with the rest of them you going too have access lash and clatter...
Ok so if i undid the fuel pump from the side of the timing cover, wouldn't it die since it is not pumping fuel. Would oil get all over to? So by doing this your trying to see if the noise is from the slapping of the fuel pump or what?
If your going to go thru all that BS, Just Do the valve train check like I mentioned ..and if that doest work? go to a electric fuel pump...If it is the fuel pump? which I doubt...there all junk anyway...
But if your needle and seat are good it will hold fuel in the float bowls long enough for you to hear if the clatter gone...?
By the same token an exhaust leak..well cause the same noise...Bad Gasket..Warped exhaust manifold? ETC...
