Anyone replace the icp module on a 03 F-350 6.0 diesel? have a false check engin elight.. Put the ol' snap-off computer on it and it says ICP control module fault... any Ideas of where and how to replace it...
Welcome to FTE. Looks like you missed the 6.0 section by just a hair. We'll get this moved to the 6.0 section for you. The ICP sensor is easy to replace. It just unscrews out of the head, and a new one is screwed back in. Kind of pricey little things though. Make sure you check the wiring connection first to make sure that's not your issue.

Replacing the ICP will depend if you have an early or late build '03. The late build ICP is located in the front of the passenger side valve cover. I hope you have this one. If you have the early build like me then the ICP is located behind the turbo on the HPOP access cover. Two options are available to change it. Come in from the top and I believe you have to remove the degas bottle and possibly pull the turbo or come in from under the truck and behind the motor as I did. I had a lift available so I could come from under the truck. If you come in from down under the hardest part of the job is removing the 3 bolts from the turbo heat shield. You have to come in from the driver side and reach over the tranny bell housing. It took me 5 minutes to change the ICP and about 1.5 hours to remove and install the heat shield. I also bought the special ICP Snap-On socket. The only difference between it and a regular socket is the SO socket has a retaining wire around the socket. The ICP sensor is about $150.

the build date is 04/03 so I am assuming its early build... I can't remember off hand the code... It is a neighbors truck I usually work on heavy equipment... He asked me to take a look at it (with this economy everyone is trying to save money) I will get the code tonight.... I personally own a Cummins diesel so don't hold it against me... My company owns all fords 6.0's,7.3's,and gas v-8's and v-10's... Never had major problems with my company trucks so I thought I would try and tackles this one... Thanx for the help. I will try and getin here more....
Hi,Just replaced My early '03 ICP,located under turbo near back of engine..under heat deflector, accessible easier from under truck. 3C3Z 9F838 EA was the no. for mine, I found oil leaking into connector at ICP, ..Guess this is the quick check to prove sensor is bad..after replacing sensor, don't forget to clean connector which goes onto module..might want to check E-Bay motors, enter ICP and search..good luck...Dave
