Your alternator should have two connectors, a three wire one and a single wire one, besides the battery terminal. The center wire of the three wire connector is white/black. It goes from there to the single wire connector. Good luck!

Thank you, now I have to figure out how to connect my 2g wires to the 3g wires to get the stator to engage or excite. How is that done? Floyd
On the 2g I have two stator wires coming from it on separate terminals. Do i just tie them together and run the 2g yellow wire to the orange wire on the 3g wiring?
What I did was install a 86 302 Thunderbird engine into my 4x4 97 coupling an AOD 31 spline output to my 4406 Borg Warner Tcase. It runs good but rpms up before engagement but is strong when it catches in gear. Other than trying to figure out my air conditioning wiring and speedometer wiring all is fine. My main is the alternator charging correctly. I will have some difficulty on the 4x4 Tcase control vacumn and wiring and controls but I think I can do it.

Hey King,

It was reading 12.8 but rapidly declined under load test. Another side note, I took it back to Costco and there were four more there that were returned that day. I asked the guy if they get a lot in and he said some days they only get one or two!!! I agree that I think it was the battery but will keep an eye on it.

If there is a way, without removing the alt, to know if a diode is leaking AC back to the battery, that is the only thing I can see being a problem at this point.

Thanks JL good information.

Alternator

Yes, I agree that it has three wires. Orange, green with red stripe, and white and black and a center plug. This is the 4.6 3g. I have another alternator that has three wires in one plug and three wires in another plug. The first plug has a yellow wire, orange, and white and black. The second plug has a white and black wire and two hot wires. I think the two white and black wires connect together but I don't know which one of them if they are to be separated excites the field.
I don't have the plug for the 4.6 3g so this is my confusion on hooking up the 2g. I can't find the diagram for it but I will I know but no one wants to send me one so I am going to buy it so that I can see it first hand. Floyd

Lifetime from Azone

I have always bought lifetimes from Azone and never had to take one back that I bought. Ive always had good luck with them.

But I would'nt spend over $100 when it really sounds like the part is good and the battery is the problem
