mazda trans. lube advice
is auto trans fluid the best for my new mazda trans?? it is a little notchy from first to second.is this normal??bled the system and has a new clutch and surfaced flywheel.please help with ant advice on any better fluids. auto fluid seems a little thin.thanks,joe

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 15-Aug-02 AT 11:46 PM (EST)]While there may be a small debate between ATF and gear oil, if you're asking for the best and safest, use a high quality synthetic ATF (Redline has a MTF (manual tranny fluid) that is synthetic and a bit thicker, too. People who have used it seem to love it.)
My shifts are smoother since I changed the M5OD to synthetic ATF (mostly Mobil 1, plus one quart of Amsoil ATF).
I had a Mazda car transmission shifting nicely with Mobil 1 gear oil in it, too (converted from ATF).

thanks for the info.i hope my new rebuilt trans doesnt have a bad synchro. the 1 to 2 shift is raking slightly.any ideas on what else this can be?? ive only driven the truck maybe 10 miles since the exchange as it isnt my only truck.i will try the different lube tomorrow.any ideas on how to get amsoil in my area?? i am in memphis tn. thanks joe
