I saw this on the job and snapped a shot. I should have, but didnt feel comfortable running up and snappin a shot of the badge (kinda like saying look you *******).
When it rolled by I didn't believe it, then ran up and got this shot.
Looks like 09 (?) F150 Screw (I saw the badge). It was a sweet truck, but not sure it shouldda been towing this hauler.
Short of reading the manual I think he was over weight. You wouldn't know it by the looks. It was almost level (airbags) and pulled away from a stop on an incline w/o struggling.
Some people do belive both the commercials. F150 and 11K lbs, and the brochure weight of the trailer (prolly 11K lbs, lol).
gross dry weight on that trailer is 8,000+ lbs...tongue weight on the hitch is almost 2,000 lbs.
that poor truck. that trailer is almost 14,000 lbs loaded down
And to think I traded an '05 F250 for an '08 F350 w/V10 to haul a trailer that size! Boy, did I waste money, or what?!!

Thanks, Tylus. Been some time since anyone accused me of having common sense! Wait till I show the wife!
On the other hand, I guess it's ok to overload a smaller truck, just don't drive it anywhere near me. Have had some pretty pointed disagreements with people about being over their GCWR, or rear axle weight, or even just being way over the GVWR. And take a tour around any of the larger campgrounds on the major holidays. Guaranteed you'll see at least one or two obviously overloaded rigs.

Heck it looks good pulling that trailer if you ask me :-)! Maybe he has the max trailer gear on this truck. Heck 3.73 with the new 6 speed trans and 10 MORE HP heck he should be able to pull that no problem. HA! In all honesty I think most 3/4 ton trucks are probably over loaded going down the road if you really want to do the numbers. I see guys in construction pulling loaded down trailers and the truck sitting low in the back all the time with the bed full of junk. These f150's are way over built if you ask me and probably can tow this trailer all day long with out a problem.
I hear what you are saying and I wouldnt do it and I know what the numbers say are with in reason of towing or hauling but what really is the part of the truck that is unsafe? I'm going to say the brakes probably are the only thing on this truck that would make it not safe. So if you upgraded your brake system to bigger roters and pads that should be the only thing keeping this truck from safely towing that trailer. The truck is as big as any 3/4 ton or 1 ton single axle truck and is heavy too. I think the running gear is heavy enough to handle this. Look at the older heavy duty trucks, heck the new f150 has darn near the numbers of a heavy duty 3/4 ton truck. See what I'm talking about? I dont think this truck is that out of question when it comes to pulling heavy loads. Not trying to start an arguement just looking at it a different way. No thats not my truck either in the picture.... LOL

Yep, they're some of the ones I mentioned........
Reminds me of the officer who stopped this guy with an old beatup pickup hauling wood. Cop says, you're overloaded. I'm probably gonna have to ticket you. Turn on your signals - don't work you say? Your muffler is shot. You say you have to go slow because the brakes don't work? What do you mean you lost the registration because it fell through a hole in the floor? Oh He11, I'll just give you a ticket for hauling firewood without a truck!

Im sure wherever he bought that trailer they told him "sure that'll tow it just fine" just so they could get the sale. Reminds me years ago when my boss told a customer that his 1995 Windstar 3.0 could tow a 23' cuddy cabin boat, and the guy was dumb enough to listen to him. Our yard is on a hill and the guy was standing on the gas pedal trying to drag that thing up the hill, he made it but i was nervous just watching that. I sure wouldn't want to be behind him on the interstate, or near the boat launch for that matter!
It couldve been some teenager pulling his racing four wheeler to the track. Or maybe taking the girlfriend to the lake. He may not have noticed his overweight trailer. Atleast he has tow mirrors
