What would you do ?
2000 F-150 4.6 175k
I have a cracked head and am not sure how to proceed. Can someone help me with informed facts? The dealership wants 5500 to put a "long block" in. Is there a reason I can't find new heads for the truck from a wreck ?

I was in a somewhat similar situation and found a low mileage engine for $1K give or take a few hundred dollars. Ford should be able to get you a new head, as should various aftermarket places that have reman's. A junk yard head would be another option.
