Now i know manual locking hubs r the way to go but i have an 88 bronc with flange tophat style hubs they broke now i cant replace. I found a 90F150 4x4 with automatic front hubs, drivetrain in this truck is mint can i swap it out and put in my bronco, my bronco is I6 manual transmission and the F150 is 5L v8 auto the body on the bronco is mint the body on F150 is trash but she's only got just over sixty thousand miles still runs great anyone with any input would be appreciated!
It is about a direct swap as you can get by removing the front axle of the 88 and replacing it with the 90 front axle. It may be adviseable to replace the pivot bushings and radius arm bushings at this time while it is all apart.
The rest of the drivetrain is a direct swap with the exception of the transfer case and the rear driveshaft. The transfer case of the bronco has a flange output while the F150 will have a slip joint in the output. The rear axle should have the flange vs the yoke of your 88. But like I said, it is as straight forward as you can get.
