Block is the same. Pistons, rods and crank are different.

Well, the crank (different stroke) and rods (longer) are different but a lot of 360s have 4V 390 pistons in them.

As original:
The 390 4V was offered (as an option) on 1974/76 F100/350's.
1968/73 F100/350's: all 390's were 2V's.
The engine code is the 4th digit of the VIN:
1968/76 F100/350: H = 390 2V / M = 390 4V (1974/76) / Y = 360 2V.

What is 2V or 4V? I thought it meant 2 barrel or 4 barrel.

So my 71 should not have a 4V manifold stock? When we bought the truck it had a 2V carb on a 4V manifold . My dad got the truck in 1981.
