Yesterday I saw a commercial by "Fisher Price"
They were advertising" Motorized 4x4's" for children.
There was a Jeep,Chevy,Dodge,something else & Low and Behold a FORD 4x4.
They looked pretty cool.
Also,Thursday at Wally World, while waiting for some medication to be filled,I strolled by the toy department only to find some Die-Cast
FORD Truck Models.
I picked up a RED 1948 F1 by Maisto for $9.96 Canadian.
There were plenty other's.
I even saw a model of the protoype Truck "The Equator"
I'll get that when I have the money.
Of course I prefer the full size versions, but I do enjoy collecting die-cast Fords (Matchbox, Hotwheels, etc.). I got a really cool one back several months ago at Wal*Mart. It is made by Johnny Lightning and has the theme "Yesterday & Today" There's a 1950 F-1 pickup on one side and a 2001 SD on the other side. Behind them is a billboard that you can alternate between pictures of the two trucks.
Also, on top of one of my speakers, I have a display of some of my die-cast Ford trucks. There's a 56 F-100, a 79 F-150 Flareside, a 80 Bronco, a Mid-80's Bronco II, a 97 or 98 F-150 and a Explorer Sport Trac.
Then there's my Ford truck shelf with a 57 Ranchero, 92 Explorer, 93 F-150, 95 Explorer, and 53 F-100.
If you were in my room, I THINK you could tell I like Fords.
I, too, like the diecast. I just don't have a place to display them. The 'Ford Collectables' catalog has some nice diecast and don't forget the farm implement dealers. Theirs are usually painted company colors but most of them are cheap enough to buy and repaint. Just take them apart and separate the plastic from the metal. Dip the metal in carburetor cleaner and strip the paint then prime and repaint to match YOUR truck. Looks cool. Good cold day project
I stopped by the local John Deere dealer today to pickup some of their gold plated parts. They had nice little 40 Ford Pickup and a 53 Ford service body truck in their diecast assortment. They were about 25 dollars apiece. They keep a bunch of toys for all the farm kids, both big and little. Those toys are good quality and its not unusual for them to last a couple of generations.
used to have big die cast collection, as well as hess collection well die cast broke and hess got "reposessed" when me and my mother left her boyfriends house, #####ty but oh well. Also have a million matchbox and hotwheels cars form when i was little. I had a coin collection that disappeared, (think someone pawned it on me) and also had a stamp collection.
Matt, I saw a beautiful Matchbox '68 F100 with flareside from the olden days of Lesney Matchboxs. I wanted to buy it but the grille was bashed out and the guy wanted $5.50. But I have two other similar Lesneys and a whole lot of other Matchbox and Hot Wheels and other Ford trucks and cars.
As for Ford stuff, I have a Genuine Ford Parts sign on my cellar door, a collection of Ford truck ads going back to the early 1960s, including some for big Ford Trucks. I have about 6 Ford truck history/picture books and more coming, and two Ford t-shirts and plan to get more. I lament that the blue oval on my '95 is much smaller than the blue oval on the '84 I had, and likewise the tailgate lettering is so small now.
