Dana 28 diff code

Tag on diff reads 4 10 E77A BC 610298-9
Door code was for 4:10 limited slip. is this one also limited slip or just rear diff.???

Are you sure it's a Dana 28? My Dana 28 on my ranger had to have a new carrier installed for me to go to 4.10's. I don't think any ranger ever came with a 4.10 gear option. It is an option for my F250 for it's tow package. 4.10's would kill the axles in a ranger, I should know, I have blown up mine numerous times with 4.10's.

Yes many Rangers have 4.10 gears in them usaully four cylinders with overdrive, and no 4x4.:-)

Dana 28 diff code

Diff code on door is D7, acording to 1988 BII owners manual this is a(ford) 4:10 Locking rear diff. My question was concerning the front diff from same vehicle, does anyone know if both diffs were locking, or just rear diff.??????
