The reason I put the emphasis on the mechanic is because I only know one mechanic around here that knows more about these trucks than I do and I wouldn't even think about calling myself a mechanic. That ONE guy is a diesel specialist and he is still somewhat lacking in knowledge about them. You put a Cummins, PowerStroke or Duramax in front of him though and chances are he's already seen the problem you have with your's. He's an old 6.2L/6.5L specialist so a lot of that knowledge spills over to the IDIs somewhat.
Any GOOD mechanic can probably get one running but how much extra time are you paying them for as they "hunt" and partswap until they get it right.
Nah, my wife would kick me in a very sensitive area. I have to admit that it is HER truck . I just make the payments and occasionally get to drive it. I'm looking for a 94-98 12V or a 24V to go into my Ford.

If a mechanic has to keep changing parts instead of diagnosing the problem, they probably aren't that good of a mechanic in the first place.

I'd agree and say we are running out of good mechanics....... FAST!
I think that's the basic problem.

Also, it sounds like you are admitting your wife is smarter than you and has better taste? LOL!

That's what I twisted it around to in my warped mind anyway.

I'm pleading the 5th on that one.

This is the first Dodge I've owned. Needed a 4wd to get down the driveway and something to pull a horse trailer and our travel trailer. I won't own a newer Chevy and the Super Duties are so ugly I couldn't bring myself to it, or the 6.4.
I love the looks of the Dodge's and the incentives were too good to pass up. For the most part, we've been pretty happy with it.

Ihave to agree with you on the new "Griswold Family Truckster" '07-up SuperDutys. I think they are quite possibly the ugliest truck ever built.
If you took the "side vents" off and covered the front end up with a big winch bumper it would improve the looks considerably.
I can't believe a whole group of people got together and decided that was a good change in looks for the S.D.s.

I'm a MOPAR guy at heart but I own 5 Fords, 3 Chevys, 1 GMC, 2 Internationals, 4 Jeeps and 8 Dodges. All trucks, no cars.
I don't show that to show off as I know people who have two or three vehicles that are worth more than ALL of mine put together. I just like all of them, some better than others of course.
You are vehicle poor.
