Everything on the market other than the Ford AIS will be louder than stock. So if you want something that is quiet, the AIS is the only way to go.
The AFE and others are a little quieter than the 6637, since they have some sort of shroud around them that does block a little bit of noise. Still, they are louder than stock.
AIS will flow well until you start adding injectors and a bigger turbo. Then you'll find that it's super easy to instantly suck down the filter minder. So if your power plans are to stay mild, then you'll be fine. The AIS will flow enough air for mild power gains that you get out of a chip or tuner.
Personally, I run an AFE Stage II with the ProGuard7 filter, and it's a great setup. Expensive... but nice. Other kits like the S&B are really good too.
My S-B intake system is a bit louder than stock like Curtis suggested, it gets louder as the the filter gets dirt, that let me know other than looking at it that its time to clean it. There's a few good systems out there and your just at the right place to find what your looking for, good luck.
