Transmission swap question

I haven't been able to find a lot of info on the transmission that the decoder thinks I have, and I was wondering if any of you know if you can easily swap this one out for another more supported transmission like one of the Borg Warners?

What I have:
1980 F150 Custom 4X2 (8ft bed) with a 302cid, with Clark 4sp w/od manual transmission.

The problem is I think the tranny is going out (keeps kicking it out of second when I am not on the accelerator, and is hard to go into 1st sometimes..), and the parts stores I have checked out don't seem to have anything on this transmission.

Thanks in advance...

I am sure you can swap it out. What I am not sure of is the Clark pattern on the bellhousing, the spline count on the clutch, and the length of the driveshaft.

You can go ahead and get a donor truck that has everything, or you can start with the tranny of your choice, and if something doesn't fit, then go to the junkyard and get the correct pieces to make it work.

are you sure it's a clark trans.my 81 has a 4 speed od and is factory unit.pull the trans code off the b pillar on the driver side door, and some one here probably can decipher it for you.mine is a bit sloppy as well, but stays in gear.

crapola

decided to change out the oil in the tranny and I think I made a noob mistake. I was pulling what I thought was the drain plug out and just as it was almost out I heard a "tink" and something in me just groaned. I think something fell off of the bolt inside the tranny...

I looked at the b pillar and the code there is "B", the markings on the tranny were a little hard to read but this is what I think they were:
RFD9BR7006-A
C2604194

There is a date stamped 9/12/79 and a "GR BF" right above the date.

Here is a picture of the bolt:

albumid=1661&pictureid=7897

and a picture of the place where I took it out of the tranny:

My questions are did I screw it up? and if so, hard to fix? And which tranny it this? It has ford stamped on it as well, either the toploader wanna be or the SROD?

Thanks in advance...
