AsI remember 75 and my 1975 F100 ,all 49 state F100 did not have them aufull cats only Calif was required to have them. My 75 rangerF100 390'' had a single exhaust woth a big round muffler till it split open at about 80,000 miles in 1986 ,replaced it with aftermarket duell's and glasspacks

In '75 the weight break for emissions was 6000 Lb GVW. Trucks below that required catalytic converters to meet the stricter standards. Above that, they weren't required.
That was the reason Ford came out with the F150, they had a minimum GVW of 6050 lbs.
