check and see if you have the hole galaxy frame, someone could have just used the rear of it. you have pics of the front suspension and front frame? do you still have a solid axle up front? once you get measurements for the bed you can see how much you would have to raise your bed floor with the current frame, you may not have to raise it much.

here is a F1 frame diagram, see if it might help,
you should PM julie and ask her for some diagrams, she has alot. but for now, go here and check out some stuff... https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...cs-needed.html

I am still not exactly sure what that means either...when I order a bed for it should it be special ordered once I find out how much it needs raised or, do you just get that done after the fact?

You're sure? Do you have a 1961/64: Galaxie, or Mercury handy to look at?

Where oh where is this so-called "1963" Galaxie frame's long center X member? No see um.

What 1961/64 Galaxie has the same wheelbase as any F Series truck? NONE. See the third line in my signature, I ain't just a whistlin' Dixie.

FRAME ID: Look on the outer passenger side frame rail just behind the frame horn for the Ford frame ID number...post it here.

does it work and track straight ????? if your wanting a regular bed on it will it fit ??? if it does and you dont mind what the hades . clean it up make it purty and drive the wheels off of it . if it is a galaxy frame well i beat the crap outta more than a few of 'em and turned one 63 into a dirt car a long time ago , and it held up well , well it lasted longer than the walls , the camaros and chevelles that bounced off my TANK !!!!!!!!!

yeah, there was a galaxy frame out in the yard. when i quit ford last year i started working with my cousin at scoutline auto(a junk yard he owns)
looks just like it to me. i never thought it was the entire frame, just the rear section. and if it is just the rear, it wont have any numbers. he hasnt posted pics of the front suspension and frame yet.

safef3, if there isnt a number dont forget to post some pics of the front frame and suspension too, numberdummy worked for FORD for along time, he's probably seen his fair share of frames lol, he'd be a big help to you too.
oh and numberdummy did you go to his gallary and look at the different angles? or those 3 pics i posted? it really does look just like it.

The frame is his gallery is a fracatta HASH JOB!

Looks like someone grafted on the outer frame rails to the trucks ladder frame from...maybe a Galaxie.

Outer frame rails only...no see um X member!

Galaxies used "perimeter" frames. Ladder frames were only used on trucks.

uhhmm did you say galaxie, lol.
but i gotta agree with you, your right its only the outer frame rails.
oh, and what is the wheelbase for a galaxie? 119?
safef3, go measure your wheelbase. lets see if your truck is even the right length...

numberdummy: i'm not sure but wasnt 62 the first year for the 289?

Ok, I could not find the numbers. It looks like the front has been cut and some brackets fabricated to hold the bumper...That being said, I noticed it does have independent coils with shocks in the center.

I measured the frame and it is 119 inches from center wheel to center wheel..At the back it measures 44 inches wide over the wheels and 49 at the very back..The top of the cab is about 72 inches from the ground.

Now, how close is that to what I need for the F1 bed to work?

hmm, well, i'm not sure off hand what the wheelbase for a f3 is, so if someone else knows, jump in. but i'm sure its bigger than that.

wheel base for a f1 is 114

i'm not sure on a f3 what the deminsions should be, but on a f1 the rear frame measures 34 wide. from center of rear tires it should be 60.

oh, and the bed question, the bed floor on these trucks are totaly removable, they are not connected to the bed sides like on newer model trucks. its not hard at all to raise it, just a little time consuming. but all in all, it's a close call, 119 and 114, you may want to go ahead and get a bed, to really see what your working with...

hopefully someone will chime in that is more familiar with F3 dimensions.

ND correct me if I am wrong but was'nt the Xmembered frame only used on the convertible? I have had many Galaxie sedans hardtops and a country sedan. and don't remember seeing the Xmember.

1960/64 Galaxie 119" wheelbase / X member frames on convertibles, 2 and 4 door hardtops.

"Box type" frames on 2 or 4 door sedans and wagons.

1963 was the first year for the 289, installed (as an option) in full sized Fords (Custom/Galaxie) and Fairlanes only.
