the off balance pressure, just like anything else on a machine, can make or brake preformance. if your runnin like 800hp then it dont matter just make your exhast big and short to let it breathe but on anything streetlegal for the most part exhaust if not ballanced right can make your vehickle a gas sucking powerless pig. when you make a true dual with no crossover(x or h pipe) then you engine will just shoot a spurt out each side and it will run like two smaller engines meeting in the middle and one being of a different power than the other so one will get pulled faster than it should while the other side will have too much strain on it and youll end up wearing things out faster than you will anything else. personaly i like dual with x pipe runnin 2.5 inch out the headers all the way back to a good flowmaster then 2 2.5 in tailpipes out of each muffler to the bumper (total of 4 tailpipes comming out the back) you dont lose too much torque and you get horse power. i can tow and go fast this way. anymore questions?
I never heard of having engine damage with out a H or X pipe but ok , i use the H pipe because i think you get more low end with that then a X pipe witch is better for higher RPM . I run 2 1/2 pipe straight back off long tube headers , H pipe , 44 super 44s with turn downs . I removed the side gas tank so i just have the rear , i don't see how you could use a H or X pipe in our trucks with the tank in there & get it in the right place ??? Lew
yeah i mean true duals definitely have a performance boost over stock, but judging by what i've read since i've never actually done any exhaust work, a balanced system beats an unbalanced one. But no, you can't damage an engine by having an unbalanced exhaust system, unless you completely clog the pipes or something
Yeah i know you can put an H or X pipe in like that , but i was told that the X or H should be installed in the pipe at equal pipe length for best performance , so when you do it that way the drivers side pipe is about a foot or so longer ... Lew

Hmmm.. Im planning on getting my exhaust done soon and was going to do it like the picture but with gen 2 Lightning exit.
depends what you want the H is going to give you more low end and I would call it a throatier*sp sound, while the X will give you the higher rpm and a raspy sound I perfer the X makes them sound mean
Talking about sounds anybody have clips with H or X so we can get some reference to what were talking about?
Kirk, truthfully I am not sure. It would equalize pressure so on cold morning you would no longer have one pipe blowing alot of white steam and on kinda blowing white steam lol or is that only my truck?
I did not notice any differnce when starting or idle whe i did it but sound yes
