thanks fo rthe input re: lugging...ill stop doing that...but cali emissions do suck, and eventually stuff does spread...of course i dont mind much bc i live in MN and they dont do no emissions or safety checks here...so i ignore any emissions laws round these parts...if my car has a catylitic converter and i want to redo the exhaust without one, i will just do so...
the bigger point here, is that i admit rolling coal has some appeal, there is a time and place for it...and driving around in regular traffic during the day, blocking the sun out, is not the right time, nor place. in a parking lot or w/e or race area, or perhaps the occasional showing off to ur buddies, thats about the only time you would wanna do it,
You Young Guys just don't seem to understand. Your wasting fuel, potentially damaging your engine, pisssing people off, breaking the law, etc. Just to look like an A-Hole?????
Seems pretty damned childish to Me.
Doing Your precious smoke show in Kali is even worse. Your going to get noticed, and not in a good way. Your filling the Enviro ****'s ammunition depot when You act so childish. They WILL be coming for Your older, more affordable diesel truck. And then, You'll be back here whining about how bad the new Kali smog laws are. Especially when they won't issue You new Tabs, or require You to install a DPF.
Some of You Guys need to grow the he11 up, and realize that we're all in this together. One truck Blowing Coal is a lot more memorable to the Enviro ****'s than the thousands of properly maintained & tuned diesels out there. All the **** see's is that cloud of smoke coming from an older truck, and their reaction is that they all need to be banned. Taken to the recyclers, and melted down.
If You don't believe this, Just look at the New Diesel Laws that they have passed already. With much more to follow. All fueled by peeps like You. Thinking that they are so much cooler than the rest of the world. Driving around wasting fuel, looking like an idiot 'Blowing Coal'
One thing filthy pride, we are glad to have you around, but please use half way decent grammar. things like ppl, and other internet careless typing annoys alot of people including and makes things hard to read and understand.
And the diesel particulate filter retrofit did pass in California this year, right now you are under the weight limit.
But with pickups blowing black smoke, it is only a matter of time before you have to either park your truck or install a particulate filter before you can pass smog tests and register it.
Given the cost of retrofiting a particulate filter on your engine, your truck value will be reduced to scrap value, or you will have to sell it out of state.
Unfortunately, way to many California regulations wind up out in the rest of the country.
Chuby its not the sulfur itself that lubes the fuel, its some nickel (insert scientific add on name) that lubes combined with something else that gets removed from the fuel when they lower teh sulfur content.
call me mike guys...hmmm...hey, i hae been told that the factory turbo IDIs had reinforced bottom ends, is that true? sorry fo rhte threadjack but its maybe 15% relevant lol
I have also wondered about the bottom end reinforcement. I know(i think) that the pistons, valves, and rods and maybe even cam is different. Thanks for finally making something relevant out of this thread people talking shi hite over the internet really just isn't appealing to me. I havent been on in a while and i come back to this.
no problem...what i was getting at is that both times, the people have told me that even a factory turbo on my 90 would destroy ity in short order, an d the one even said never go more than one flat...even with the turbo...idk what to believe anymore
Ive heard some say that but I also had a personal friend-not heard through the grape vine but actually witnessed-who installed a non gated banks on a 6.9 and it would scoot. he put 200,000 miles on the engine after the install hauling cows from texas to ok, nm, and la. He then sold the truck to another personal friend who had just turned 16. That guy put another 5,000 driving it like he was 16... Last i knew the truck had found a home with his grandpa towing his 5er
