i have heard that diesel emissions the black smoke is not harming anything in the air. the soot that get blown out particulates are to heavy and dont remain suspended in the air so are less damaging than gasoline emissions. go figure. but thats all hearsay. and you want smoke my duramax smokes. thats right i have 2 chevs for daily drivers and the toys are 3 fords. lol im just a pure dodge hater. and all that black smoke isnt necessarily meaning more power. when i have my programmer set at highest setting i get more black smoke but turn it down one setting less smoke and truck is faster. black smoke means not efficient burn. needs more air. that is when turbo upgrades and twin turbos come in to keep up with the fuel. dont think you truck is new enough for programmer though. want some smoke change out injectors with some +60hp ones. you will like it

Dynomite Diesel is now offering 7.3L Injector Nozzles available for all '94-'03 models. Dependent on your truck's setup these nozzles will make 25-100+ rwhp above stock. These are new parts and flow 24 lpm.
Early reports on fuel economy have been in the ball park of 3mpg + above stock. DDP customer Attila Szabo has stated he's getting 3-4 mpg on his 2001 Powerstroke that weighs approximately 12k empty with 19.5" wheels since his injectors were done at our shop and his dually depending on driving conditions and load achieves up to 23 mpg.
Note: Nozzle swap should be done at a pump shop. Nozzles have a 12-month warranty.
MSRP: $1188.00
all i found so far but gives you the idea. with a low enough power injectors you wont need to change your fuel pump. dont know if they are available for your specific year. best off to find diesel performance shop in your area. they are popping up everywhere now. they will know better than me. or just keep searching and reading.
this is whats needed for smoke. push more fuel in. if all you want is smoke then you will get added bonus of power lucky you. my programmer was 700 for bully dog. but i dont know if you can get one for yours. and the next alternative is this injectors. i guess you could always suffocate it for air and lose power to get smoke but no one wants power loss.
