difference between 150 and 250 frames?

Is there any difference between F-150 2wd and F-250 2wd frames?
Will all the 8lug parts bolt to the 1/2 ton?
Are the F-150 I-beams the same as the F-250 where you can just swap the knuckles and brakes or do you have to swap the I-beams over and bolt them to the f-150 crossmember?

I believe the F250 frame is taller and made of thicker material than the F150, that being said, it may still be possible to put the 8 lug parts on th F150 im not sure

No the front ibeams are not the same. You will need to swap it all over. PLUS, the F250 ibeams are shorter in length than the 150 versions. (At least on the D44. sorry, i dont know about that for sure on the 2wd axle.)

Body parts and interiors are the same. Transmissions and T-cases are the same except for the yokes. Motors are for the most part the same aside from the 460 and the diesels which were not available in the F150s. As long as the cab configurations are the same, the gas tanks should be interchangable as well.

I may be wrong but I think the light duty F250 and the F150 have the same frame, but the heavy duty F250 is a total different beast.

after the swiss cheese was abondoned, the frame railes and MOST of the crossmembers were the same, but stuff like front spring perches changed.

What years were the f250 hd available?
Did they have the diesels and 460's or could you get those engines in a light duty f250 also?

Ive got a 351 in my 90 F250HD, but i would bet that the 460 and diesel were only available in the HD's. I always thought the main difference between the LDs and the HDs was that the HD's had full floating rear axles with heavier springs, and the LD's had semi floats with lighter springs. I know thats one difference not sure of any more

F250HD's were pretty much a light duty F350. They rear springs were different. On a
4x4, the F350 front axle was one piece. On the HD, the 351W was the base engine. The HD also had a full floating rear axle that was shared with the F350. On my 92 F250 HD, the rear spring perches have F350 stamped on them.

Are you sure the 351 was the base engine? I recall seeing some work trucks from the late 80's/ early 90's with the 300 in them. Even one of the old Superdutys. Ive also seen some f250's (not sure if HD or LD) with the 302 built to be an economy truck

From what I have heard the 302 was only available in the light duty F250s, along with the 300. As for the 300, I have not seen many F250HDs and F350s with them, but they seem to be out there.

As for the rear springs, F250HD 4x4s and F350 4x4s have the same springs. The only difference out back is that the F250HDs have a 2" block and the F350s have a 4".

I second the thought that the frames on the F250hd and F350 are the same but heavier than the 1/2 ton's and light duty 3/4 ton's... My F250hd came with the D50 TTB front axle... I think all HD's did... and after doing a D60 sas and a rear axle swap I can confirm that the springs are the same on the 250hd and 350... just the blocks are different....2'' verse 3 1/2

I'm not sure but I've heard that all diesel F250 trucks were HD because of the extra weight of the engine.

So that's why my F350 sits higher in the rear over the F250HD. Thought it had heavier springs - that sucks.

What about the front? Are they also the same between a F250HD & a F350?
