Coolant Question
There are quite a few choices of ELC's out there, but I chose Chevron Delo ELC. It's good for 750,000 miles or 8 years without an extender, or 1 million miles with the extender.
Delo ELC is the best available, in my opinion.

Just so there is no misunderstanding, I wasn't trying to discredit Evans, nor was I telling the OP not to use Evans, just that it was expensive stuff and that I preferred an Extended Life Coolant over Evans, specifically Chevron Delo ELC over Evans Waterless.
But, since you think the OP needs more info to make an educated decision, I'll say this, Gooch prefers an ELC over Evans in the 7.3 PSD.
Here are two paragraphs cut and pasted from one of Gooch's posts regarding coolant usage in the 7.3L PSD:
I have no intention of discrediting...comments about the Evans and RMI-25, only to inform you. Evans is a good product, although expensive and hard to find. Less expensive, easier to find modern HD ELC's provide similar operating lives and similar (or better) protection. And the Evans does require modification of your cooling system to run low pressure, when your water pump seal is designed to run (and seal) under higher pressure, as documented by Ford. I have not used RMI-25 and don't plan to for reasons I won't discuss here. I would not recommend putting anything into your cooling system other than coolant and SCA.

Again, not claiming the following is fact, but it looks like the reason Evans doesn't "work" as well as a water-added coolant is because the viscosity of Evans is so great, the OEM factory water pumps (that were engineered to run water-added coolants in a pressurized system) need to be modded/re-engineered to run the Evans coolant.
Cdiddy, if you want to run a coolant designed for your engine that doesn't require additives, then completely backflush your engine and add a diesel approved Heavy Duty Extended Life Coolant.
Here is a list of ELC's that will work:
- CAT HD ELC
- Fleetrite HD ELC (International's brand)
- Rotella HD ELC
- Prestone HD ELC
- Zerex Extreme HD ELC
- Chevron/Texaco/Delo ELC
The latest formulation of the Delo ELC has a maintenance-free change interval of 750K miles/8 years or 1M miles with an extender.

I would also recommend staying away from any 50/50 premix fluid as the proper ELC mix is 60/40. When flushing the engine and draining with the lower plugs out, there will still be a small amount of water trapped in the block/heater. When using premix, you will probably end up with a 46/54 or 47/53 ratio that can lead to cavitation with the premixed stuff.
coolant to me.
