What is this Evans coolant and why haven’t I seen this mentioned on this forum? http://www.dieselsitetoo.com/index.a...PROD&ProdID=42
Can it be used in a 97 PSD? At $22.50 a gallon it seems a little expensive but it is supposed to be lifetime coolant. And a zero pressure system could bring many benefits. With the addition of a coolant filter system I wouldn’t ever have to change my coolant again! Does anyone have any opinions on this coolant?
sounds expensive.
what happens when you need to change your thermostat, or when your lower hose busts 2 weeks after you install this $22/gal coolant, or your wtrpmp goes out. I would stick with what you have

Good point. The unexpected does happen. Hoses, Heater cores, pump seals, ding in the radiator, etc. You could buy 3 gallons of regular coolant for one gallon of that.

The up side is with a zero pressure system it becomes quite impossible to "blow" a radiator hose, pumps seals, etc., or at least very unlikely. I had problems getting my thermostat to seal a couple of times after I changed it. I just drained the Evans into a bucket, fixed the thermostat, and dumped the coolant back in.
What I like best about the Evans is that I'll wear the truck out before the coolant wears out, plus I don't ever have to worry about SCA's.....and it won't boil and can't freeze.
I do keep a couple extra gallons on hand, just in case.
the 0 pressure does have a good side but the heat is the main thing that hurts rubber, nothing is full proof and i think that it is just cheaper to go with the old fashion coolant.
if a person changed to braided hoses and the system was extremely clean then i would say go for it
Thanks for the link Goose. I did read the TSB and it states “Ford does not have performance data for the multitude of engine coolants available in the aftermarket and therefore cannot recommend the use of any coolant except those sold by Ford Customer Service Division.” It does not say anything about deteriorating gaskets or hoses nor does it specifically address corrosion problems other than to state “...different brands of engine coolant provide varying corrosion protection for the cooling system. “
Did you follow the link I placed in my post to read about the Evans coolant? It does address its use in diesel engines and the elimination of the need for SCAs. I haven’t done any further research yet on this coolant, I am just trying to get some opinions from the very knowledgeable users of this forum. And aside from the high cost of it I think it may be a good coolant. (I also have not done cost research yet).
If anyone has any opinions, links or data on Propylene glycol PLEASE post.
Evans is also 100% waterless! If you are away from home and you experence a brake down, you can use Sierra brand anti-freeze to top off. But when you return home you need to flush and refill with Evans again. Since it is waterless, you are supposed to not have to use SCA additives.
I have been using it in my stroker for about 37,000 miles now and love it. I havent had any problems and felt it was worth the money. I noticed the tank stays very clean also compared to the premium gold i had in it before. I will continue to use it and am sold on its benefits.
