Hidden Kill Switch suggestions

My neighbors Ford Lightning was stolen from his driveway this past week, which has me thinking hidden kill switch. Has anyone added a hidden kill to thier truck, im looking for ideas. Real trucks don't fit in the garage!

Take your IDM relay and relocate it using spade connectors and add a switch in-line so you can disable the IDM so the truck won't start.

Someone will find the link to the real write-up of it and post it I'm sure.

I simply put a switch on my break switch. (The one where you have to push the break to put the truck in gear). With this switch off, you can start the truck, but you will not be able to move it.

I had a neighbor who was a tow-truck driver and he said that it would be hard to break the pin that keeps the gear-shift from moving. He had tried many times on vehicles that were totaled.

I have tested this with a couple of friends (tossed them the keys and asked them to move my truck) and they came back telling me they could not figure it out.

After having my truck broken into and a bunch of stuff stolen out of it, I figured I needed to add something myself. If my friends could not figure it out with all the time in the world, I thought a theif would get frustrated easily and leave it where it sits. It has not failed me yet?

Springer Pop has a good write-up on his website for an anti-theft device as well. For me, I just put my DP Tuner in "no start" when I'm in a big town.

That or put the F-5 switch in your pocket when you leave the truck somewhere unsafe.

Thats sound good, your talkin about a single throw toggle to just break the electric circut? Then of course hide the toggle.

I had my ashtray wired in my ( ... don't laugh 74 olds cutlass) as a kill switch. Pulled out it wouldn't start..Maybe wire the cupholders the same way? Leave in a cup of coffee to boot..

How did you wire that up?
You can also wire a switch to the hot lead on the starter solenoid on the fender that will keep the starter from engaging- I think Robin (PaysonPSD) has a write-up for that somewhere.

This is what I did. A switch to disable the starter.

I'd be super interested in this one too. I've done kills inline to starter relays/ solenoids before but I like this for our trucks because if anyone ever figgered out how to start it, you'd likely hear em......and they'd prolly be sitting there looking at me and my friends, S & W.......
