Just thought Id share a little project ive been working on. Im building another wrecker out of a 78 F-150 and a 74 F-350 hears what it looks like so far.
cool project truck.i always wanted my own wrecker, but it would tempt me to pick up more projects. then i would be disowned by my wife.then she would divorce me...and probably take half of everything. including the toys i now have...i would hate that!!!lol it looks like you have a good jump on the project already. keep the pictures coming as you proceed.
scrapyardking, tow rig is looking good so far, have you seen this one for sale on ebay??
that rig you have would be easier than using a trailer like I have to do to transport all my new acquistions, good luck w/ it.
how did you use the F-350 frame, it didn't appear to have one.
That truck was origanally a dump truck and someone cut it in half to make a dump trailer. So i used the origanal front of the frame and remade the back half with a couple pieces of c-chanel I hade laying around.
i beleive the black and white wrecker on e bay is ,or was aowned and rebuilt by a member of fte. i just cant remember who it was. now i have to go searching... well i found the truck in the FTE gallery. i searched the "79 f350 4x4 "gallery, and there it was. its owned,or was owned by a Mike Silberhorn of Hayes Virginia. i think he goes by the name 4rdman,but im not possitive.
I really like the project, why why ditch the 300 for a 360? From my experience the 300 is a much better engine than the 360. Especially for something like what youre building the low end torque in the 300 is killer.
