I think i need new glow plugs! my truck wont start at all if its below 0! My starter is takeing a **** kickn because of it! and strands my wife at work if its not pluged in! I run 5w40 syn oil. Is the glow plugs the first thing i should be changing to fix the problem and can someone give me some tips and step by step pic on how to change glowplugs please! Happy wife, Happy life!

There are 2 relays that look alike. The GPR is the one closest to the firewall. A quick test would be to short across post 2 and 4 for about at least a minute or more at the temps you are talking about. This will energize the GPs. Then immediately try to start the truck. If it starts easier then the GPR is faulty.
I had my son cyckle the glow plugs while i checked the glow plug relay with the volt meter and i got nothing from the glow plug side for power. i guess i need a new gpr? is this correct?
that is correct, you can jump the posts to get out of a jam or swap the relay out for the one in front (AIH) but tape off the wires real good so they dont short out, until you get the new one in.

I did this three years ago and haven't changed it back.
