I am not sure what they are called, but I am looking for a set of torque extensions for my impact gun. I know the tire shops use them, as I have seen them using them replacing a tire on my atv after a blow out. I do not know the exact name for them, but they supposedly flex when they reach the determined torque of the stick, extension, rod or what ever you want to call it. They are different colors for different predetermined torque settings.
Does anyone use them, and if so where can I get a set? Not looking for a set that will cost an arm and a leg, but would consider if that is all that is available!
They work great, but aren't exact. They are just to keep you from over-torquing and ARE NOT a substitute for properly torqued wheels.
Any tire shop that uses will also go around with a torque wrench.
They aren't accurate at all. The tire shops use them to keep complaints down. They use them to keep their tire jocks from air ratcheting the lug nuts to 200 lb ft.
They'll hire any Tom, Dick, or Harry, and call them a tire tech.
I use them from time to time but to be honest unless you do alot of lug nuts a torque wrench is fine and you can use it for lots of other things. I bought a few from ebay about $25 for the torque I use, you need to have a gun with some *****. A wimpy 300 ft.lb. impact isn't gonna cut it, it wont get them tight enough. If I have some special bling wheels I use a torque wrench, factory wheels I use my calibrated finger on the trigger, never lost a wheel, never had a complaint.
