E40d/4R100

Hi,
Can anyone tell me if a 4r100 diesel trans will work behind a efi 460 BB which has a E40d trans. both trans have late version solenoid packs. I know the speed sensors cant be used and the lock up clutch control in the in two pumps are diferrent, E40d on /off and the 4r100 modulated.
Has any one done this conversion?

Can`t answer your question but I think the bolt patterns are different in the two engines.

A diesel trans will have a bolt pattern that does not match the 460.

E40d/ 4/r100

Thanks for your reply guys, I have the 460 e40d and 7.3 4r100 trans stripped down in my shop , I will check the bolt paterns tomorrow. looks like I may hve to rethink this one.

the e4od diesel cases have no provision for a starter.The starter mounts to the adapter plate.

E40d/ 4/r100

Thanks guys , both cases are different at the bell housings. There must be only 3 cases in the E40d. Big block, small block and diesel with diesel being the same as 4r100 minus the PTO take off and the turbine and output shaft speed sensor holes. Does that sound about right?
