Regen

I'm surprised more people don't know that the power drops from 650 to 605 lb/ft when in regen mode. This is in the diesel manual that comes with the truck.

Unless you are at max boost you might not notice.

The most obvious sound is the rushing air noise from the exhaust. You can start and stop as often as you want during regen.

If you don't complete the regen cycle soon enough, due to a lot of short trips, the display will say "Drive to Clean Exhaust" to warn you.

You should get the latest flash, and be proud of the fact that you are not polluting the environment with soot by deleting your filter!!

Mine sounds about the same during regen (which, BTW, I get once about every tank of fuel). I wouldn't know it was in regen if the dash didn't tell me. I think I have a job 3 though.

Jaybread--what are YOU doing in the 2008 - 2009 6.4L Power Stroke Diesel forum, since you have 6400cc engine? Go the 6400cc forum... BTW, nice toys, and nice toyhauler....

Got a new F350 Job#3. Have a fan clutch sound thought it was regen dealer doesn't think so and based on reading this forum sounds like he's right. i supposedly have the latest flash but have never seen a regen message on the dash. if i have the msg display always showing Avg mpg will the Regen msg pop up or do i need to keep the msg center blank for it to noitify me? Based on reading this forum seems the regen sounds like my ole 7.3 on a cold morning when she increased idle speed and the exhaust noise doubled.

jtcf250, a couple of tips. As firemandiesel said it doesnt matter what display you have on, the cleaning exhaust message will over ride it so just monitor whatever you want. My next advice is to not leave it on avg mpg because it will drive you crazy. If you insist on watching the mpg do yourself a favor and compare it to hand calculations because some trucks are known to be off.

Mine is a early job1 and since we got all the latest flashes there is no dubt that it regens more often. I had never seen a high speed regen but now see them about every 300 miles or so. The truck runs better and pulls better. We never noticed any difference in performance during regen except we can see the EGT go very high. We have alwyas been satisfied with the truck.

Thanks for the info. I agree hand calc is better. First hand calc showed about the same even after trying to top off the tank which surprised me as its usually .5 lower in hand calc.

Got my OASIS rpt; Engine cailibration; 8F716A0A and this is listed;
15 08B07B .5 REPROGRAM PCM AND ICM (assume this is the reflash)

Does this look correct? Thanks again for your inputs.
