Train Horns??
I was just curious because im the General Manager of a pallet company in NY.. I picked up a set of train horns this weekend.. I cant wait to mount them.....
If you're gonna install a train horn on your truck, go authentic. You can search all the websites you want and get the $500 if that's your poison. If you want a true authentic train horn used by ALL major railroads, I should know I work on locomotives for a living, then look up Nathan Horn Co. Now these are expensive horns, however, the only other way you'll get an original is go climb on a unit and risk a felony offense. The more chimes you get, then the louder the horn. Keep in mind they are illegal in some states on vehicles.
I have 2 fire engine horns one on each frame rail. I built a compressor setup (already had a 5 gallon tank) and put the tank, compressor, electric valve etc etc a low profile toolbox in the bed. I made an aluminum diamondplate box (3"x4"x3") that mounts under the e-brake area, that has a foot switch on it for the horn operation.
I added a few air chucks to the box and a gauge. It works pretty well. I have a 12v pressure switch (90psi on 125psi off). I can blast my horns with a full charge for 8 seconds.....train horns....maybe 4 seconds they use alot of air.
Good Luck

Oh yea? Big money in it if you can do it right. Especailly how high the price is getting on them. We get all ours from Pioneer Pallet I believe they are just a Kansas City we go through about 8 53's every season.
Try calling IFCO, we have 60 plants in the US and VERY compeditive prices...
