Hey Bill,
I've been wondering how your trans rebuild problem solving was going I had'nt heard from you in a while. Well I know now, I am so sorry to hear about your injuries. I hope you fully recover and don't have any long term problems from your accident. I know the feeling I've told you my story on how I screwed by back up. I have to give you kudos on rebuilding the tranny yourself, especially working around all the special tools needed. Glad to hear you got the AE Im sure that will come in handy for the future as well as your immediate problem. my truck is stil down due to tranny, I'm pretty sure its toast. I used my Edge Evo to run my check tranny codes and did'nt come up with anything so I decided to call John Woods and have him build one for me. Im not that confident I can do it myself, even though John can put together a kit for me. Keep us posted as to how your tranny goes and how your healing up. good to see you back in the forums.

If you do this Joe, give me a call. I'd like to see what all's inside there. I've rebuilt manual trannys before, but those are a much simpler design (not to mention they were 3 speeds so lots fewer parts).
Will do. Hopefully it's not for a nice long time!! Roland (Muekster) built his own, so I was thinking of bending his ear if I need to do this...
Don't feel to bad about it. When I was about 17 or 18 I pulled the driveshaft out of a truck with it sitting on a hill and no chock blocks. 30 some stitches around my eyes later I got to go home. I figured after that you should never work on a truck when you are mad at it. It will make you do stupid things.

Don't work outside on a slope and pull the transmission in the rain either.
That convinced me...have tranny done at BTS or John Wood (I already had the chock block part down). Glad to hewar that you are alright Bill...I think of how bad this might have been!
Hey guys,
Thanks for all the concern, I am doing good now. I can't get online very often because I am in the process of finishing my new house and have to go to next door to get online.
Currently my trans is still disassembled. I had to take a break due to injuries and house construction. When I pulled it apart the second time there was a great deal of crud around the housing where the OD clutches were melting.
Yesterday my new gasket set arrived and the bag said "95-98". I called Transmission Exchange to ask if they were terminally stupid and they told me that those are good for a 2000 as well. Funny part of that is they said I was wrong to use the gasket set that they sent the first time because it didn't say 2000. In short, I am done with those guys.
Rebuilding your own trans..... That wasn't so bad but since it is still apart I will try to take pictures as I rebuild and show the ways arround the "special tools".

Best to you on the home building. I rebuilt after Katrina and fully understand the "work". Pics would be great of tranny as work in progress. I do understand house comes 1ST.
