i need to mount a couple 3 big lights on my headache rack 2 to face forward and one facing backward so i can accidently turn it on when someone tailgates me.
So far I havn't fried anybody but I could light them up if I wanted to. It makes it nice at night I had a guy trying to park in a dark spot one night he came thanked me when he got parked and wanted to look at my setup.
I read that several years ago but have not noticed it so it wont be shortened very much.
I would way rather change a headlight than the switch and only one headlight goes out at a time.
very interseting i had always thought that my lights werent gettin sufficent power ... ima try this mod with some nice sylvannias see if it works...better then what i have now..
One just uses larger AWG wire from the battery positive post and the other uses larger AWG wire attached directly to the alternator output terminal.
I ran mine from the passenger side battery positive terminal with 10 AWG wire and am very happy with Silvania Silverstar Ultra bulbs.
I did have to switch to composite headlamps with the jewel pattern reflector which also give much better light control to use the Silverstars in my 86, but I am extremely happy with the mod.
The sharp beam cutoff the jeweled lights give keep the light out of oncoming traffic faces and rear view mirrors of people I am following.
The extra brightness probably doubled how far I can see when the high beams are on.
And getting the amp load off the headlight switch and the main power feed into the cab helped everything else out as well.
ok i need some help ... i "think" i did exactly as the diagram showed but when i hook up the 85 side it didnt come on so i jumped it directly off the battery to the 85 side and it turned on so what gives?
