I went in yesterday to my local NAPA to buy a replacement for my magnafine p/s filter. The counter guy took the part # I gave him, looked it up on the computer and said that it has been replaced by a new version. Then he pulls out this tiny little thing that looks like a metal version of a fuel filter for a chainsaw. (It didn't say magnafine or raybestos on the package so I didn't buy it)

I've gotten mine locally from NAPA until now. Where do you guys buy yours? Anyone else been handed some replacement part?

I'd like to stick to a part I know. Guess I'll have to go to ebay.
Anyone got a seller they recommend?

Thanks.

Just bumping this in case anyone was wondering. I'm not sure if the disposable filter is being phased out, but almost all of the chain stores will cross-reference the smaller all-aluminum serviceable filter from the disposable part number. CARQUEST, O'Reilly's, Advance Auto Parts, etc. all showed the disposable filter on their website but when actually ordering and getting the part in it was always the aluminum serviceable unit. I ended up going with the serviceable one, it's much smaller and can easily be taken apart, cleaned, and re-used plus it costs the same amount. I installed it on the hydroboost return line as well.

Napa filyer part number

I bought one last week at Napa/Riebes store ,and the part number is 1-8721 and it came in a Reybestos box. Same part as 1-8514. Both nubers show the same part on their website. Hope this helps.

For fun, maybe I should add another Magnafine filter to my window washer fluid line!!!

It's actually the only fluid in my truck that is not filtered... wouldn't want dirty fluid getting on my dirty windshield (ha ha).

These filters are low cost, easy to swap out and can only help with our PS fluid systems. I suck out the 1qt fluid reservoir each year and add fresh Mercon fluid.... drive for a week and suck and refill again with another quart of Mercon fluid.

Again, 2 qts of fluid and a filter is fun to do and cheap maintenance.
