just got back from the stealership after trying to negotiate on a price for a new '08 fx4 screw. i have attached the window sticker as a JPG for reference.
MSRP is $39,850
we currently sit at $37,500 ----- BEFORE REBATES
this price comes to $33,000 with the rebates so we are $3000 from what I want.
I told the guy that I would give him the invoice on the truck MINUS rebates and let him keep the holdback. He is trying to say that we are right at the invoice and I tell him hes on crack cause i bought my '05 with MSRP of $40k for $34k not even factoring the rebate at that time.
I offered him $34,500 and told i want the rebate also which is $3500 + $1000 more off for Ford Financing for a total price of $30,000 plus tax and title.
I told him if he could do it that the truck is sold. I told him if he couldn't do it thats fine cause the dealer next town over has 10 of the same truck I want. Then we shook hands and I walked out the door.
The dealer can, but they won't make a dime off it. It helps them unload it before the 09's come out though...You should go back in June and offer the same thing, but they may not have it then.
Go to KBB.co and u can find out exactly what invoice is but u won't buy that truck for invoice and u can't factor in hold back money they will not deal with their hold back things are pretty tight now but I would say if u get it for $300-500 over invoice u would be pretty good of course if u wait until june or july there will be some killer deals on 08's.
I retired from Ford, and the gap from invoice and sticker is not as wide as it once was,but ask him for the "X" plan price,it's non negotiable and you keep the rebates. It's not as good as retires get but it may help you out some.If you can live with it contact me for an X number and you are set.

When I ordered my 04 I paid 0 over invoice minus any rebates at time of delivery. I walked in with truck printed out with all the options and at the bottom of the page had two prices. One was suggested retail the other was dealer cost. I circled the dealer cost minus incentives passed it to the sales associate. He looked it over and then asked for deposit for the order. I gave him 500.00 deposit and went to the computer to order. It took about 30 minutes for this whole process. Then 7 weeks later my truck showed up just how I had ordered it. No problems it was smooth as glass. I hope my next order goes that smooth. I know this is not a orderded truck but that should not play much of a roll. Just saying some will work with you others don’t . I stick with the ones that due. BWEP
My 07 Lariat MRSP was $37525, Invoice was $34274, Dealer Holdback was $1099 just to give you an idea. Reason I know this is the dealer gave me a copy of the invoice.

Hey BWEP, Where did you get that info, if you don't mind shootin me a link? That sounds like a very good way of doing things, Thanks.
There are several web sites out there that let you build & price vehicles (and disclose both MSRP & invoice pricing)....cars.com & edmunds.com come to mind.
I would take russandirene up on his generous offer of an x plan pin. that would put you just below invoice and all the incentives are still usable. Jason

Not only that, it caps the dealer processing fee at 75.00. Depending on the dealer, I have seen these from 395.00 to 499.00. This is also a substantial savings.
Sounds like an awesome truck!!! Only one comment and not to insult your intelligence, but are you OK with the 3.55.1 axle ratio? Decent for mpg's for may be a tad bit sluggish if pulling anything heavy.
You did the right thing. Walking out the door is always the right thing to do; these trucks will be built every day of the week for ever.
The stratagy that I used when I bought my '04 Expy new was first, I determined the invoice price through some basic research. Secondly, I secured financing through my credit union and I armed myself with a letter from them (CU) stating that I was qualified for $XX,XXX and that they did business with about 32 different dealers in the area.
I made the new car manager beleive that I was going to buy a new Expy THAT day from one of five local Ford dealers and this was his chance to make some money or NO money.
