I have a dealer that will sell any vehicle at $98.00 over invoice minus rebates. They will not deal at all. This is the price!! I have 4 other dealers in the area I have not talked to yet. So, the truck I am looking at is a 2006 F350 4x4 Lariat CC Short Box SRW. With almost every option. The MSRP is $50,000 +/-. The invoice plus $98 is around $44,500 minus $2,500 rebate minus $500 AQHA rebate = $41,500 plus T/T/L. I feel this is a good deal, but read about people getting more off and just want to make sure!! What do you guys think? Would I be able to use the college graduate rebate ($500) with the above rebates? Could I do better with a X-pin number? What rebates are compatable with the X-pin number? Sorry for all the questions, its just alot of money!!!
I agree. If they have the truck you want, what difference is a couple hundred dollars? I guess it would not hurt to stop in at the other places and see, but don't lose the truck you want for what amounts to about 1/2 of a payment.
X Plan would put you in a few hundred under invoice, but you could not use the AQHA. You'd still get the $2500.

Just as a reality check, dealers around here are knocking $11,500 - $12,500 off MSRP on loaded trucks (Lariat, PSD, 4x4). $2500 rebate. $1000 Ford Credit down payment match and $8000-$9000 dealer discount, for example. You would get your AQHA rebate on top of that.
But that is in Dallas/Fort Worth, where Polar Bear will tell you new truck prices are nuts. But if they have the truck that you want, might be worth the $$$ to drive on down and take one home.
BTW - The $12,500 off is at Troy Aikman Ford and you get a genuine football helmet signed by Troy (if you care about that).
Thanks for your help. They have some trucks that are pretty close to what I want, but I think I am going to wait and see what the rebates due after April 3rd. I agree about not letting my dream truck go for a couple hundred dollers.
I don't expect a substantial decrease, but the general game plan of GM and Ford is build less, sell for more. This is not the year to try to game the rebates- too risky, IMO.

2) They rip the trade
etc, etc, etc. you get the idea- lot's of ways to make money in the car biz that have nothing to do with the selling price of the truck. Example- pencil out 3% finance reserve profit on a $40,000 72 month loan- it's jaw dropping.

Therein lies the trick. There is usually only 1 ad unit at that price. You had better like the color. You can get the truck for the ad price, but they don't make it easy.

Another favorite trick is used by the Autonation dealers around here. The AN dealer in far west FTW will have a specially-priced ad unit, but the unit will actually be located at another AN dealer in far east Dallas (maybe 50-60 miles away). So the advertising dealer doesn't have the unit for you to look at (oh sure, they can get the unit, but it will be Monday). So you can't look at it. The dealer who actually has the unit (assuming that you can find it) didn't advertise the super low price, and won't honor the ad. A nice little game of musical chairs.
All the dealers also like to keep running the same super cheap ad unit for weeks after the unit is sold. I can read the fine print in the ad "All units are subject to prior sale", and the story that you get at the dealer is that "Those ads are placed weeks ahead of time". All of which is a load of nonsense.
Sorry if this offends you, but these sorts of things are why I consider car salesmen to be the devil and the more that I can do to screw them over, the better I feel.

On some things jschira you and I widely disagree on but, on others (such as this topic) we are not only on the same page but your comments are as if I wrote them.

Only difference is I seldom attack the new car salesman (in fact, I usually warn them) but, have chewed out many so called sales managers in the middle of the show room floor.
While my body count is not as high as yours it is certainly above the norm. 26 new and countless used vehicles in the last 35 years. This does not include those that I have negotiated for friends and family.
Folks like Jeff and Ernie are the wonderful exceptions.

Heck no, that doesn't offend me. Unfortunately, those tricks (and many others) are all too common in the business. You would think as consumer get more saavy, things would straighten themselves out.
BTW, anyone want a VW Toureg? we took two of the stoopid things in trade in the last week.
Both of them had alternators out- ask captchas what's involved in that little nightmare. One guy was a contender for the "negative equity" sweepstakes- $30K upside down (owed that much more than the car was worth), and rolled it into a new 'Vette! Unbelievable. Even more unbelievable, there's lenders out there that will do deals like that.
It's been a wierd week- outside of the two Touregs, we got two late model E-Class Mercedes sedans (they always seem to come in two's) in on new Tahoes, a C-Class Wagon, and two BMW 3-series Coupes (one with an "M" on the decklid- kewl car).
