I recently purchased an '02 E250 cargo van w/the 5.4L V8. It has 216k but runs like a new one. I decided to change the oil today and had an unbelievable time getting the oil filter off the remote attachment site. When I attempted to use a wrench, the filter wadded up like cardboard, to the point where I literally had to chisel the filter off. In all my days I've never seen anything like this- it was like it was welded or glued on. Of course in this whole process the mounting surface where the filter gasket rests on the mount has been greatly compromised and it leaks like you wouldn't believe. Anyone had any experience like this and what sort of a job is it to replace that remote filter mount?
