what if it "fails" or "rusts through" would you have to replace it?
If a licensed shop does it they have to put a cat back on. Now thats not to say that every shop will. Some think they won't get caught. We won't take the chance. $20K is a lot of equipment to sell off to pay a fine.
what you do in your driveway is another story. I don't know what would happen but the chances of ever having a problem are EXTREMELY slim .
OK whats the trick to getting an exhaust shop to sell me a straight pipe and will i need anyother parts to do this?
2 differant shops told me its agains the law to remove the CAT and put on a pipe.(Im still gonna do it)
I made up some story that I needed the pipe for a vent pipe on a gas stove I was installing in my shop, he smiled and said no problem.
As far as a cat and the Junk Yard, in Idaho, you can't buy the cat from them, 1 they get good money out of them and 2, the yards have told me it's against the law for them to sell them (what a racket that is).
