Well my truck still aint runnin good.
I put a new fuel pump in (now the fuel pressure bounces between 40-60)
I also put in a new fuel canister. (the old one was fallling apart)
I put a new CPS, changed the oil and filters, and checked the fuel lines.
Started up my truck this afternoon and still its still feeling and sounding somewhat restricted and still getting white smoke and still no CEL.
Im at a loss as to what else it could be.
I also had my batteries and altenator checked both checked good (but now when i start the truck the volt meter sits not far past the 8 then will creep slowly back up to half way, when it use to sit at aboul half as soon as it started. I dont know if this has anything to do with my orignal problem but, if any body thinks they know why this is happening please shine some light on me.
Hoping you guys might have some super diesel ninja insite for me. FTE #1
volt meter is correct. glow plugs are drawing power.could shim frp,but 50 should be good.
The wierd thing is 250turbo is after giving it fuel a couple times the volt meter pops right up and you can see the cab light get brighter. Ive got new batteries and altenator, when i first put them on a month ago it fired up like a champ. now it takes a couple seconds to fire up. And could this be whats causing me to run like crap?
volts sound about right as your GP's can draw up to 2 minutes from the time you turn the key on.. Is the fuel bowl full when it's running like this, still sounds like a fuel restriction???? Hows the air filter????
To let you guys know ive removed all mods.
The fuel bowl is filling up and it sounds and feels the same with or without the air filter on it. And the turbo sounds ok.
Could I have messed up the GPR, when the truck would not start i tried to arch it to see if that would work. (it did not)
well you have made progress. the fuel pressure is now correct and it starts. some white smoke is normal on start up. does it clear up after a few minutes of running? have you removed the cat yet?
Read some of your other posts. Usually removing the two bolts holding the flange connecting the down pipe to CAT is easy, unless the bolts are rusted. Removing the skid makes is much easier to access.
My CAT was clogged and it smoked (white) a lot. After I removed it I had much more zip with no more smoke unless it's really cold outside. I'm not saying this is your problem but from your description sure could be back pressure issue.
Here is a pic of my CAT. Exhaust end is pointing towards the sun and I snapped a photo from the other end. Bright white spot is marble size showing sunlight. The rest was pretty much clogged.
Guys i think we may have a winner.
I think its the CAT unbolted it from the DP and drove around the block a couple times and the truck is running much better.
Now to get this kitty off.
Ill keep you all posted on all the breaking news.
Thank for all the advice.
Harry
Stick around long enough and I knew we would all get it figured out. There are many people on this site that know more than the engineers! I'm glad to see I'm learning too, I was on the right track w/ the cat and fuel pump from your last posts. Glad to see she's running well for ya.

Thanks Kevin for all the helpful info
Also sorry to see your rig is giving you problems now.
I wish i had some info to pass your way.
That"s about right for a new pump and unshimmed regulator. The pump should build more pressure at higher rpm's, but if it does you'll never know it because the regulator dumps the excess pressure.

Thanks Blue i hooked up my fuel pressure gauge and at idle it bounced between 40-60 and at like 1800 RPMs it was quickly bouncing btween 40-60.
Just wanted to make sure that was right.
