defrost mirrors

my OASIS report said my truck came with defrost mirrors stock. i do not have defrost mirrors (not first owner). i also do not have any switches on my door. if it was defrosting mirrors, would there have been a switch on the door? I can't imagine if they changed it, why they would have changed the door panels. thoughts?

My truck is the same way. It's a 2002; Oasis and dealer's build sheet claim defrost/heated power tow mirrors. Well they are power tow mirrors, but there is never any indication of being heated, even when frosty in winter I have to scrape them off.

Are your mirrors lghted? I believe that the heated super duty mirrors always came from the factory with the lights on the edge too. It's possible that someone broke a mirror and replaced them both with non-heated/lighted units. Or the heaters are simply burned out. There would be no switch for the mirror defrosters, they're hardwared (on with the key).

The wizard is right. There is no switch...

As for them not working, again, kudos to the wizard. Does your mirrors have the LEDs in the mirror edge? From the pic in the signature, it doesn't look like it. If the backs have been replaced with non-lit covers, chances are the wiring harness hasn't been plugged back in.

My truck was built before the lighted mirrors were introduced, yet everything I have says they should be heated?

Does it have the defrost logo on the glass itself? If it does then they are heated but either not working or not hook up. The only trucks that have a switch are the Excursions in which the mirrors work when you turn on the rear defrost.

Tilt the mirror all the way towards the window. Take a flash light and look behind the mirror plate, you'll see three (or is it four?...it's been a while since I did this) plastic tabs. CAREFULLY dislodge the tabs. The back shell of the mirror will now come off. Look for the tiny wire harness and see if it's plugged in. If not, then give that a try. If there's no wire harness........................................... ..I'm at a loss on what to tell you to try next.

i haven't notice a defrost logo, and i've never had them iced up on a day that i'm driving the truck yet. Thanks for the info, i'll check it out further, and although i imagine a couple days ago with the frozen fog, was probably the last frost day we'll have until winter. Take Care!!

I have an 02 F-250 that I bought new. I have the power towing mirrors. They do not have the directionals on the mirrors. That option came out in 03. The Super Duty trucks in 02 did not come with heated mirrors, but the Excursions did in 02. I had always wondered if there is a wiring harness in the door, so that if you wanted to install the heated mirrors you could. I only remember this because when my truck was new I was a little pissed that the directionals became available in 03, and the heated mirrors were ony available in the Excursion in 02. If anyone has installed heated mirrors, or mirrors with the directionals in an 02 I would be interested in what they found for wiring.

very weird that the OASIS says that it has heated mirrors. maybe your hunch is correct chevy,,, maybe it's because the wiring is there.
