yeah, i missed part of what you had originally posted. my browser effed up and actually edited (or something) out a couple of lines. Like the whole bottom half of it. no need to be rude, dude. besides, did you read what got posted before your last post? i THANKED YOU. so calm down, dawg. No need to be so sensitive.
How was I rude?
I stated facts based on experience and from the 1964/72 FORD TRUCK PARTS CATALOG.
As good as my memory is...I cannot remember everything, so I have to refer to the catalog now and then.
You can get this same parts catalog on a CD from hipoparts.com for about 22 bucks,
Way to be specific and helpful, guys. In the future, when i mention "putting a stereo in my truck" can we please assume that i mean "a radio head unit capable of producing music for the listening pleasure of the driver and/or passengers of said truck"? I had thought that with the combined wisdom and experience available on this forum, that such nitpicking would have at least been followed by a correction or explanation. Thank you, dbdbb and numberdummy, and i mean that sincerely, for explaining what those guys were talking about.
Ah, gotchya, you are talking about any type of headunit, Stereo, or Mono.
AM "mono" radios were avaliable for a long time before 1971. They are also comon and cheap, if you prefere one of those. They are not stereo though, they just have one speaker in the dash.
How difficult is it to set up a stereo radio in one of these? i figure the hardest part is going to be finding mounting points for the extra speakers. i found a plastic headliner that comes with speakers, but for some reason the thought of installing a plastic headliner in my truck doesnt sit well with me. You guys have any favorite mounting points?
The place I'd put them would be in the doors. As the factory did for the 1971-1972's etc.
Here is a pic... The speaker lines up with the window crank, at the bottom of the door area.
Thanks guys. im looking for a stereo head unit, and i figure i may be able to cut a couple speakers into the dash pad. After i pull the gas tank from behind the seat, i may throw in a speaker box as well. of course, that will work better when i get the bucket seats.
I have a stereo am/fm Ford radio that looks much like the photo above. Mine also has the balance slider under the pushbuttons. I bought it for my 67 Ranger a couple of years ago, but I have since learned that Ford did not have an am/fm radio for the 67, so I'm considering putting it up for sale in the near future. The paper tag on the left side of the radio shows it as a D3TA-19A241-125, and the numbers below are 3F8TP-AE and says FORD on the bottom. The number on the back of the bezel is D1TA-18842-AA, but I'm not for sure if this is original with the radio.
