Welcome to FTE

Do you have the owners manual? Dealers used to record the key codes there.

Something else you might do is contact FTE sponsor: FTEpartsguy.com (Ed Olson @ PARR FORD in Bremerton WA) and give Ed your VIN.

You could just drill out the cylinder.

Cylinder from a parts store is usually about 10 bucks and you can have the new key cut to fit your door also at a locksmiths shop.

drilling out the lock cyl on that year truck really sucks. I will never do that again. lock smith shows up, 1/2 hour later you have a key, pay him the service call, go to key place and make spare keys.

A GOOD locksmith can cut your key from the VIN of the vehicle. Ford parts dept is useless in these type of situations...try a decent locksmith, give him the VIN, save yourself the service call and you're on the road again! Trust me , I've done this a few times and its never cost me more than 35 bucks! Hope this helps!

Only useless if the partsguy doesn't want to bother.
If the partsguy types the VIN into Ford's computer system, the key codes appear.

How would a locksmith know what the codes are from the VIN? They have to call a dealer.

How else would they get the info...since they have no access to Ford's computer system?

How do I know this? See my signature.
