Lost! Starting,wiring, or something

i have a 87 ford 150 with the 4.9l. It has fried two starter relays on the fender on me now. I try to start the truck and when I turn the key back off it seems to still be sending juice to relay. I can have my key off and touch the ground wore to the post on the relay and start the truck. I'm lost, any help would be appreciated!

Welcome to the forum, Yorkjw! We have heard this numerous times, before. It is not uncommon for the original starter relay [solenoid] to fail after 25-30 years. Then, someone purchases a bargain one at the local auto parts house and it may fail on the 1st attempt to start. The contact points weld together. If this sounds familiar to you, purchase a Motorcraft one [~$35] or the NAPA Echlin one. Some of us, when visiting the parts yards, pay ~$5 for used Motorcraft ones and keep a spare.

Sounds to me that the contacts fused together. Had it happen to me before. Now a days they're cheap Chinese crap. You can test it if you have a fluke meter.
