The neighbor boy was playing in my yard and I suspect he found the single key that I leave in my F350, its gone.
I have seen the video describing how to remove the lock cylinder from the switch but according to the video that process requires the key to be in place. I was wondering if the door lock would use the same key on these trucks. I only had one ignition key for this truck and never had a chance to lock the doors.
Has anyone had their keys made to fit their locks by a professional locksmith?
What about replacement locks, are they good quality?
Call a locksmith. They can cut a key to fit the lock, had a couple of them done. Will cost a few dollars more for them to come to you but at least you will be able to use your truck.
Go to a junkyard. I have a key ring with 6 or 8 ford keys on it. Opens and starts every ford truck I've tried it on... Doesn't take much with these old trucks. Only a few different combos, cheap old work out locks, etc.
My friend has it right now. Lost the key to his 91 diesel. One of the keys started it right up.
X2 on call a locksmith, it should be fairly cheap and quick. If the ignition has ever been changed it will probably not match the door locks. Square works the ignition, round is for doors, but I have seen one key fit all, both my truck use one key for both.
Or X2 on hit a JY for the complete ignition switch (unthread the outer lock ring after taping it loose with a flat tip screwdriver in one of the 3 notches) and door locks (pull the lock tab from the end of the door and disconnect the lock rod. You have to pull the door panel to do that.
