I am trying to decide which way to go with my gauges. I plan on getting the Aeroforce Tech Interceptor with the EGT add on, which would leave me one open analog input on it (for a wideband, trans temp or what have you). So, counting the DP remote selector at most I should only need two holes total.
Given that what I've been looking at is the stuff from Autometer. Here are the pics:
Pillar
Bezel
I like to be stealthy and don't like to advertise, so I'm leaning towards the bezel. But, it seems most people go with the pillar arrangement. I think the pillar would give better visibility while driving, but that's the only advantage I can come up with. Cost is not a factor as both are around $50, with the bezel usually a bit more expensive. They both come in black but with the bezel I'm wondering if I could get away without having to paint it since the rest of the dash area is mostly black already.
I like the pillar between the two. You can see them out of the corner of your eye. The OHC mount is nice too. The wiring should be plenty long for that also.
I voted for the pillar. You have to run your own wires (at least I did) for your gauges unless you buy an already made harness from one of the sponsors, so the length for the overhead mount shouldn't matter.
I got the pillar and I would vote for the pillar if you were sticking 3 or more gauges in there. If your sticking with only 2 gauges I would say the bezel, get 3 or moe gauges, get the pillar, good luck..my .2
Have you considered the F650 dash?! Just throwing another option out there...
Sounds like some kind of swap, but I honestly don't know anything about it. I'll start searching but if you can share a link or point me to a thread that would be great. Thanks!
I like the pillar. Thats whats in my truck. Easy to see at a glance. It does make a little bit more of a blindspot, but you get used to it after a short time.
Thedash bezel is hard to see... be prepared for that. The A pillar is the easiest to read at a glance, overhead is nice but will not work with your scan gauge... Underdash is a nice one too...
