Yep. Sounds about right. Took someone 50 years to implement a standard safety bar.
They also mandated changes to climate control [sliding levers instead of pull/push] and added rear side markers. More over the years, I'm sure. I remember on light trucks, the rear bumper were still optional, even in 1979.
I never wore belts until I was in my late 20s. Occasionally, I don't bother putting it on.
I sent a PM to numberdummy before I spotted this thread. I too have been looking for OEM belts for my 77 with no luck. I drove the rescue truck for the Riverside City Fire Department for a number of years. Believe me I am interested in the safety aspect of having decent non-rotted seat belts. AMSAFE looks interesting but don’t look like OEM mounts and messing with seat belts is not a good idea. I don’t know if the belt could be removed and re-rolled onto the OEM locking mechanism.
My '76 has Lap Belts.
I looked at a 79 that had factory Shoulder Belts.
Then I think "Hey thats.not fair!"
I don't want to be pulled over for not wearing a seat-belt,then they find out I am actually wearing a seat belt.
Good thing I took pictures of those belts in that 79. http://i422.photobucket.com/albums/p...e/DSCN1005.jpg
And yes, this is an actual Picture I took.
With all due respect to the original poster.
I am very sorry,I tend to hi-jack about every thread I post in.
I bought a new truck in 1989 that didn't come with a rear bumper. I was told about it countless times. I always reminded them it came from the factory that way, which some found it hard to believe.
I did get rear ended by a drunk driver who shoved the left side of the bed into the cab. I still drove it that way for a while until I was following a farm tractor who pulled to the right, as i went to pass he turned left infront of me. After that it was pretty much a mess and I traded it in.
The motor had a lot of valetrain noise after that collision. The part I hated was I just put brakes and tires all the way around. Tuned it up, new headlight, battery, oil change etc,...and then it was junk. Before that last incident it ran like the day I drove it off of the lot, and it only has 117,000 when I traded it in.

I just reponded to your email.
I assume you also wanted black belts. What I listed above was all I could find.
