Does anyone make the original style shoulder belts for a 1977? I've searched this site and the rest of the internet for hours looking for replacement seat belts, to no avail.
All of the aftermarket belts have the retracting mechanism at the floor, instead of up above in the corner of the cab. Installing one of those aftermarket ones would require making changes to everything and if I'm going to have to create something I may as well install a 4 or 5 point setup.
I know I could possibly buy a used set, but I don't understand why anyone would even go that route. My belts are getting frayed and I know that UV light has taken it's toll on the belts, so it doesn't make sense to me to replace mine with a set that's also 30 years old and in marginally better shape.
Has anyone used these guys (Ssnake Oyl Products) to have them rebuilt? About how much did it cost you?
Actually, none of them have the correct one. They all have lap belts and universal shoulder belts (retracting units on floor), but nothing like what's really in the truck. Unless you know something I don't...
Mine are black. Black (1st choice), gray, or even tan would be what I'd like. I'll be painting this truck a burnt copper/tangerine color, so I'd want belts that will not clash.
Thanks NumberDummy.
Thanks for the link lsr490. I've been to that site previously, but hadn't seen those. They might just work.

Sorry...that's all I can find.
No other Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.
You could send them here. I haven't used the site.
If you read my first post, you can see that I already asked about having them done by that company and included the link even. I'm hoping that someone can tell me from experience what it cost to go this route. The company will only give you a price once the belts are in their possession.
Thanks for looking NumberDummy. That's kinda what I figured would be the case.
I guess that maybe I'll try the company that lsr490 posted. Considering that those are $53 each (with hardware), it might not be a bad option, as long as they work. That's pretty cheap insurance in case of a wreck and a lot better than trusting to 32 year old belts that I can see fraying in. I'll pull the cover off of the mechanism in my truck and see what's in there and if they look like they match up.
You're saying you don't want to get a set from the junkyard, right? My only guess is that you have a safety concern here. While I can at least follow your train of thought, I figured I'd point out that a set of seat belts from a junkyard probably isn't any worse off than the rest of us who are driving around in our 30 year old trucks with the original seat belts.
I'm just the kinda guy that if I'm going to spend time and money to replace something I do it right the first time. I'm planning on having this truck for another 30 years at least, so if I need to replace the seatbelts (or any other part for that matter) I'd rather it was a new part that I know is good, not a part that I'll have to replace again in 5 years.
Besides, of all the parts in my truck that I'd rather spend money on, the one that saves my life is a little tiny expense. I can spare the cash to get it right and not have to risk it. I can tell you from experience what it's like to be in a wreck where if had I not been wearing my seatbelt I'd be dead. As it was, I spent a long time in the hospital and still have pain from it years later. I'd hate to have my belt fail in a case like that. Even worse would be if someone who was riding with me had their belt fail, just because I wanted to save a couple of bucks...
D3TZ10611A73A .. Left Seat Belt w/Shoulder Harness-Black
Fits: 1973/76 F100/350.
DON SANDERSON FORD in Glendale AZ has THREE: 623-842-8762.
This is the same dealer that has:
15) D8TZ10611A72K .. Right Seat Belt-Black.
What's the difference?
The 1973/76 buckle may be a different style, the lap belt will have THREE buckles. One for the shoulder strap, one for the lap belt. The other buckle was used with the tongue of the right lap belt (it came with two buckles and a tongue) to tie the belts together.
1973/76 buckles were smooth, rectangular-shaped buckles with round buttons. 1977/79 had stamped textured buckles that is more squareish with square buttons.
Personally, I've never had any issues with seat belts, even though they are old.
As long as the belts are not frayed or damaged, it will be fine.
Hell, seat belts weren't mandated until that Ralph Nader told us we had to. He's responsible for the major differences between a 1967 and a 1968 Ford truck!

First US vehicle to offer lap seat belt as an option: 1955 Packard. The outer belts bolted to the door panels!
Ford offered optional lap seat belts beginning in 1956 on everything.
Lap seat belts became standard equipment on ALL cars beginning January 1, 1966 when the new Fed Safety Standards went into effect.
Other former optional accessories that became standard equipment on 1/1/1966 were a left hand outside mirror, backup lights and a heater/defroster.
These items became standard equipment on light trucks at the beginning of the 1967 model year, which began in September 1966.
** 1967 F100/350's have different: doors, dash, firewall, radio, heater, hood side emblems, brake/clutch pedals, bracket under the dash they hang from, than 1968's do.
The '67's doors were changed in 1968 because the Fed's mandated that all vehicles had to have door lock *****.
The ONLY parts that are the same between 1967 and 1968 (1968/72) doors are the: hinges, glass, weatherstrips, division bars and the vent frames.
