Add some power steering flush to the system and turn steering left and right for a while with engine running to get the fluid flowing round the system. Next take out the coil lead, disconnect the return pipe from the pump and crank engine to pump out the fluid.
He suggests to do another flush with just fresh fluid before finally refilling with more fresh fluid.
If you do not have the flushing fluid or can`t get it just do the above steps without it.
I`ve never had to do it but the above system looks good to me.
we usually just syphon as much old fluid out as we can. refill with fresh, start it, and cycle the steering lock to lock several times.
do thatseveral times, using a quart or so, then refill with fresh, or lucas steering additive.

Thats how I do it. Wife often wonders what happens to the turkey baster, or why the gravy tastes a little funny.
Turkey baster works wonders.
If you use it before you start the vehicle, the suspended solids will be sitting in the bottom of the reservior and easy to pick up.
Usually takes a couple of attempts but comes out clean.
Well that could not hurt, I mean fluid is cheap, and old fluid can act pretty funny. suspended solids can collect and change fluid pressure if it becomes a blockage. Flushing the system might correct this, but if the problem is real bad, it moght be time to tear the box apart, or replace the box.
Often times fresh fluid that is not fatigued will cure plenty of things left behind by some old stuff.
I usually just extend and stick the return hose in a bucket (make sure you have everything secured for now leaks). Start er up and keep adding fluid till it runs clear. It doesn't pump out real fast. Turn the wheel left and right a few times.
I have been told that the power steering pump is my problem.
Does the pump have "Vanes" that would bypass fluid in one direction and not another? Never seen inside one of these and am trying to get ideas b4 I "rip and strip"
