I may be way out to lunch but am I correct that Ford owns most of cummins and Dodge has a lock on the Cummings engine for as long as it wants in their P/U trucks. If any of these rumors swirling around about Dodge being sold to GM are true this would end the contract with cummings and Dodge hummm could we see a cummins in a Ford don't know what I would think about that. Nice to see the only one not lined up at the trough for money atleast here in Canada is FORD.
Ford owns no part of Cummins. This has been discussed here several times in the past. I don't see the Cummins making its way into the SD at all any time soon. Ford has too much invested in their new 6.7 diesel to change now.
Chrysler LLC. files bankruptcy, parent company Cerebus sells Dodge truck division to Cummins.
Could it happen? Probably at least as likely as Ford getting a U.S. built inline 6 for their light duty trucks.
Or how about this: Diamler Trucks North America (formerly known as Freightliner) buys the light trucks from Chrysler. Dealer network already in place, Freightliner mechanics already know cummins engines...
